London City Airport is the easiest in the UK to get to according to an annual survey by The Independent newspaper of transport links to the UK’s leading airports.
The survey rates airports on the off-peak frequency, journey time and cost of the main link to the city they serve. The number of Docklands Light Railway (DLR) trains between London City airport and Canning Town doubled in February this year – there is now one DLR train every five minutes.
Also being located in Zone 3 makes travelling to the centre of London from the airport cheaper than the other London airports, the survey showed. The off-peak fare with a contactless credit or debit card, or an Oyster card, is just £2.80. Or an off-peak zone 1-3 travel card can be purchased for just £12.00.
