Volunteers assisted more than 343,000 travelers at San Antonio International Airport (SAT) in 2017. The SAT Ambassador Program, which consists of over 150 volunteers, contributed approximately 32,000 customer service hours throughout 2017.
The SAT Ambassadors assist airport customers with way-finding, information regarding the city, transportation, hotels, dining, shopping, area attractions, points of interest, and give “Fun Facts” about the airport and San Antonio. Ambassadors also operate golf cart shuttles transporting passengers between parking garages and the terminals.
Some of the ambassadors also volunteer with their dogs as part of the Pups and Planes Program. They stroll the airport with their therapy dogs offering stress-relief to travelers having a hectic day or just wanting to touch a calming four-legged friend. The ambassadors are often the focal point for many of the activities at the airport.
“We pride ourselves with offering top-notch services to our customers. Our goal is to exceed our customer’s expectations when they walk into San Antonio International Airport,” said Karen W. Ellis, Chief Customer Experience Officer for the City of San Antonio.
