Harris to supply comms system to Indonesia ATC

Harris Corporation has been awarded a contract to upgrade air traffic control (ATC) communications at the Area Control Center (ACC) in Makassar, Indonesia.

Harris will supply its Liberty-STAR Voice Communication and Control Systems (VCCS) to the Makassar ACC for ATC towers, area control centres, airline and area control dispatch, flight service stations, and mobile shelters. The system will be equipped with 78 touch-screen operator positions and is IP-enabled which will allow Indonesian aviation authorities to migrate to the new technology when they are ready.

This is the company’s latest ATC communications contract in Indonesia, having supplied systems in 2012 for the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali and the Sepinggan International Airport in Balikpapan. To date, Harris has provided communications systems for a number of countries in the Asian region, including the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore and Australia.
