Kilfrost, the global market leader in the supply of de/anti-icing products for the aviation industry, is supporting China Eastern Airlines’ (CEA) winter operations, with further technical training to take place in October.
As one of the three major airlines in mainland China, it flies a fleet of more than 460 long-haul and short-haul aircraft. CEA serves nearly 80 million travellers annually and ranks among the world’s top five airlines in terms of passenger transportation volume. As an official member of SkyTeam, China Eastern has extended its flight network from Shanghai to 1024 cities in 178 countries via close cooperation with SkyTeam member airlines.
The number of foreign airlines handled by CEA from its headquarters in Shanghai has increased to more than 20 over recent years, with all of these demanding de/anti-icing services during the winter months. CEA is subject to audits from foreign airlines and the De-Icing/Anti-Icing Quality Control Pool (DAQCP) every year and so needed to demonstrate compliance with international standards for de/anti-icing aircrafts.
In 2008, CEA began using Kilfrost’s de/anti-icing fluids to ensure the safety of its flights, even in the harshest weather conditions. With assistance from Kilfrost, a de/anti-icing manual for complying with the Association of European Airlines’s (AEA) standards was compiled.
