Frequentis has been awarded a contract to supply the tower air traffic control system for the Aeroparque Jorge Newbery airport through a tendering process led by ICAO.
As one of two city airports in Buenos Aires, it is the busiest one in Argentina and acts as the hub of Aerolineas Argentinas. The contract is for IP-based voice and recording systems along with tower automation systems for the newly built tower.
“Leading in the implementation of new technologies within South America, we are delighted to use these tower automation solutions in this important new air traffic control tower. This will enhance our air traffic management operation in a very efficient way and enable new functionalities”, says Brigadier José Palermo, General Director of DGCTA (Dirección General de Control de Tránsito Aéreo).
ICAO is approaching harmonised implementation of ATM modernisation through the ICAO Aviation System Block Upgrades framework. Implementing tower automation systems supports ASBU Block 0 and Block 1 modules in the airport operations performance area.
