Airport’s marketing chief elected tourism leader

Bangor International Airport’s marketing manager Risteen Bahr has been elected chair of the Maine Tourism Association, reflecting her wide travel industry experience and long commitment to promoting the local region.

Ms. Bahr has held her present position at Bangor International for more than 10 years, spearheading the airport’s marketing and communications outreach programme, with particular responsibility for business development and strategic planning.

Previously director of marketing for Bay Ferries, which operates a high-speed ferry service between Maine and Nova Scotia, she was formerly executive director of Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce.

Commenting on her new appointment she said: “As a Mainer through and through I am both extremely flattered and honoured to chair the tourism organisation that has been promoting business and leisure travel to Maine for almost 100 years. Today, the Maine Tourism Association promotes Maine travel in a variety of ways, increasing visitation to the state, creating economic opportunities for our membership and promoting the unique quality of the Maine tourism experience.”
